D1 Level Soccer

There are 310 D1 Women Soccer teams in the U.S. and 14 available athletic scholarships to be given away. The competition is considered the highest and much technical skill is needed. 2.4% of women althetes end up playing in NCAA D1 Women's College Soccer.

What is best exposure to this level?

Going to a game. The pace of college soccer in general is much faster compared to club or high school soccer. At a game you can see how much skill, speed, and imense strength is used throughout the game by the players as well as how the coaches treat their players.

What does daily life look like?

On average a D1 althete exercises about 35 hours a week and spends 37 hours on academics. A very small percentage have jobs but it is possible. And there is normally room for one or two extracurriclar activites.

Traveling and Affordability

Most D1 schools are not affordable and the majority of students attending them have financial aid. The average men's basketball D1 althete misses 2.2 classes per week during their season. Women's soccer does not travel as often as basketball but to put travel in perspective, it will happen a lot regardless in D1 soccer. This means that traveling abroad will be unlikley due to the amount of off-season training.
